Enoshima
Enoshima is a land-linked island located in Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture, and the town name refers to the entire island. It is a representative tourist destination in the Shonan area. There are Enoshima 1-chome and Enoshima 2-chome, and residential displays are implemented throughout the area. The postcode is 251-0036 (Fujisawa Post Office District). It is a landscape area under the Landscape Act, and the Enoshima area is designated as the "Enoshima Special Landscape Formation Area" in the landscape plan of Fujisawa City. In addition to "Enoshima", "Enoshima" and "Enoshima" can also be seen (described later).

Island of the Goddess
Enoshima rose to fame as a center of Benzaiten worship after the goddess was enshrined in its caves in the early Kamakura period at the bidding of shogun Minamoto no Yoritomo.
A Beloved Day Trip
By the Edo period it had become a hugely popular pilgrimage and sightseeing destination, immortalized in ukiyo-e prints by Hiroshige and others.
