Hetsumiya
The lowest of Enoshima Shrine's three sanctuaries, and the first you reach climbing the approach. Said to have been founded by Minamoto no Sanetomo in 1206, it enshrines Tagitsuhime-no-Mikoto. Its precincts hold the Hoanden hall with the revered Benzaiten statues, worshipped for the arts and good fortune.

The Lower Shrine of Enoshima
Hetsunomiya, the lowest of Enoshima Shrine's three sanctuaries, was founded in 1206 by order of the Kamakura shogunate and enshrines the goddess Tagitsuhime.
Home of the Benzaiten Images
Its Hoanden hall preserves the celebrated 'Myoon Benzaiten,' a rare nude image of the goddess of music and fortune revered since the Middle Ages.
