Niutsuhime Shrine
Niutsuhimejinja (Niutsuhimejinja, Niutsuhimejinja, Niutsuhimejinja) is a shrine located in Kami-Amano, Katsuragi-cho, Ito-gun, Wakayama Prefecture. Shikinaisha (Myojin Taisha Shrine), Ichinomiya, Kii Province. The old shrine ranking was Kanpei Taisha Shrine, and now it is Beppyo Shrine of the Jinja Honsho. Also known as "Amano Taisha Shrine" and "Amano Shisho Myojin". It is the headquarters of a shrine that enshrines Nyutsu Himekami, which has about 180 shrines nationwide. It is registered as a World Cultural Heritage Site as one of the constituent assets of the "Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Paths of the Kii Mountains".

Over 1,700 Years of Worship
Niutsuhime Shrine is the head shrine of some 180 Niu and Niutsuhime shrines across Japan, with origins said to reach back more than 1,700 years. It enshrines the goddess Niutsuhime-no-Okami.
Guardian of Mount Koya
By legend the shrine's deity granted the mountain of Koya to Kobo Daishi, making it the guardian shrine of the Koyasan monastic complex. In 2004 it was inscribed as part of the 'Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range' World Heritage Site.
