A Garden of Six Sublimities
Kenrokuen is one of Japan's Three Great Gardens, developed over nearly two centuries by the Maeda lords of the Kaga domain beside Kanazawa Castle. Its name means a garden uniting the six attributes of an ideal landscape.
From Lordly Garden to Public Park
Once the private garden of the ruling Maeda family, it opened to the public in 1874 and is famed for seasonal beauty — from the winter yukitsuri snow ropes to plum and cherry blossom.
