Castle of the Kaga Domain
From 1583 Kanazawa Castle was the stronghold of the Maeda clan, lords of the wealthy 'million-koku' Kaga domain. Fire destroyed it repeatedly, and several gates and turrets have since been faithfully rebuilt.
