Uzuraya
A celebrated Togakushi soba restaurant beside the torii of Chūsha. Freshly milled, hand-cut buckwheat noodles are served in the local bocchi-mori style — small coiled bundles on a basket. A favourite stop before or after visiting the shrine, often with a queue.
History & Culture
A Soba Town's Pride
Uzura-ya stands at the approach to Togakushi Chusha, in a region whose soba tradition grew from the buckwheat grown for shrine pilgrims and the shukubo lodgings that fed them.
Served in Coiled Bundles
Togakushi soba is traditionally served in small coiled bundles ('bocchi-mori') on a flat bamboo basket, a presentation said to echo the region's shrine customs.
