Sekizan Zen-in
Sekizan Zen-in is a historic shrine and temple in Kyoto. We've gathered 2 videos so you can explore it across the seasons on screen.
Sekizan Zenin is a Tendai sect temple located in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City. It is one of the branch temples of Enryaku-ji Temple. There is no sango, and the principal image is Taizan-fukun (Akayama Daimyojin). From the perspective of the Kyoto Imperial Palace, it corresponds to the direction (northeast) of the Omote-kimon Gate, so it has gathered ancient beliefs as a god of exorcism. On the roof of the worship hall, a monkey with a coin and a bell is enshrined in correspondence with the monkey at the Tohoku corner of the Imperial Palace, Sarugatsuji. It is also a famous spot for autumn leaves. In addition, it has been designated as a "Shugakuin Historical Climate Special Preservation District".
