Sasagawa Wanagare is a beach located in Murakami City, Niigata Prefecture. It is one of the prefecture's leading coastal scenic spots that has been designated as a national scenic spot and natural monument ("Sasakawa Ryu" designated in 1927), and has been selected as one of Japan's 100 most scenic spots. The Sasakawa River flowing in the Sasakawa River is the name of the village ("Sasakawa Village", which existed until 1889, and is now Sasakawa, Murakami City), and it is said that the name originated from the fact that the current was seen from this Sasakawa River to the rocky place offshore.
