Kiko-ji Temple is a separate head temple of the Hosso sect located in Sugawara-cho, Nara City, Nara Prefecture. Its sango (literally, "mountain name") is Seiryozan. The principal image is Amida Nyorai. This area is called Sugawara, and is also called "Sugawara-dera Temple" because it was ruled by the Sugawara clan. It is said to be the place where Gyoki, a monk from the Nara period, died. It is also called the temple of the lotus.
