Maples and a Mountain Pagoda
Jojakko-ji is a quiet Nichiren temple on the wooded slopes of Mount Ogura in Arashiyama. Founded in 1596, it is known for its thatched Niomon gate, a graceful wooden pagoda, and above all the blazing maples that cloak the hillside each autumn, with views over the Sagano plain.
