Ishibutai Tumulus
Ishibutaikohun is a tumulus from the late Kofun period located in Asuka Village, Nara Prefecture. It has been designated as a National Special Historic Site. Originally, it was covered with a tomb made of mud, but the soil was lost, and a horizontal stone chamber made of huge stones is exposed. Soga Umako is regarded as a dominant buryer.

A Giant Stone Tomb
Ishibutai is a late-7th-century megalithic tomb whose earthen mound has eroded away, exposing a burial chamber built from huge stones totaling some 2,300 tons.
Tomb of a Powerful Minister
It is widely held to be the tomb of Soga no Umako, the dominant statesman of the Asuka court, though the name 'stone stage' comes from later folklore.
