Gujo Hachiman Castle
Gujo Hachiman Castle crowns Mount Hachiman above the old castle town of Gujo. The oldest reconstructed wooden keep in Japan, rebuilt in 1933, it is famed as a 'castle in the sky' floating above a sea of autumn mist, and for the maples that blaze around it each November.

Sengoku Origins
Founded by Endo Morikazu
First built in 1559 by the warlord Endo Morikazu, the castle changed hands through the Edo period; the present keep is a 1933 wooden reconstruction.
