Lake Ashi
Lake Ashinoko is a caldera lake in Mt. Hakone, located in Hakone Town, Ashigarashimo County, Kanagawa Prefecture. It is the largest lake in the prefecture and a secondary river belonging to the Hayakawa River System. It is a tourist attraction with many tourist attractions and resort facilities dotted around the lake, and it is also known as a scenic spot where you can see Mt. Fuji. It is also known as the outbound goal and return starting point of the Tokyo Hakone Roundtrip University Ekiden Race, held every New Year, and attracts many tourists.

Born of an Eruption
Lake Ashi fills part of Hakone's caldera, formed by a volcanic eruption around 3,000 years ago. The red torii of Hakone Shrine rising from its shore, with Mount Fuji beyond, is one of Japan's classic views.
