Mountain Terrace Above the Alps
Hakuba Iwatake Mountain Resort is a year-round highland playground reached by gondola, famous for the HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR terrace where a panoramic deck and café look straight out over the snow-capped peaks of the Northern Alps. In green season visitors enjoy the flower garden, giant swings, a suspension bridge, mountain biking and stargazing; in winter it becomes a popular ski resort. The sweeping alpine views and photogenic terrace have made it one of Hakuba's most beloved spots for travellers from Japan and abroad.
History & Culture
A Hakuba Ski Mountain
Iwatake developed as one of Hakuba's ski mountains during Japan's postwar skiing boom, its gentle, wide-open slopes drawing visitors to the valley each winter.
The Mountain Harbor Terrace
The opening of the HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR viewing terrace in 2018 transformed Iwatake into a year-round destination, its Alps-facing deck quickly becoming an icon of green-season Hakuba.
