A Tokugawa Stronghold
Built from 1610 by order of Tokugawa Ieyasu, Nagoya Castle was the seat of the powerful Owari branch of the Tokugawa. Its golden shachihoko ornaments became a symbol of the city.
The Restored Honmaru Palace
The keep and palace were lost in 1945 air raids; the keep was rebuilt in 1959 and the lavish Honmaru Palace faithfully reconstructed by 2018.
