Kushiro Shitsugen is Japan's largest wetland located on the Kushiro Plain in Hokkaido. The area is about 26,000 hectares, of which 7,863 hectares in the center are Ramsar Convention registered wetlands. The area as Kushiro Wetland National Park is 28,788 hectares.
