Kairakuen
Kairakuen Park is a Japanese garden located in Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture. It is designated as a national historic site and scenic spot (the designated name is "Joban Park"). Traditionally, it is one of the three most famous gardens in Japan along with Korakuen (Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture) and Kenrokuen (Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture). It is now part of a wide-area park that includes an extension around the adjacent Lake Chiba. It is also one of the cultural properties in Mito City that make up the story of the Japanese heritage designated by the Agency for Cultural Affairs as "the educational heritage of modern Japan - the origin of learning and courtesy".
