Goryokaku
Goryokaku is a ryoboku-style castle built by the Edo bakufu (Japanese feudal government headed by a shogun) on the outskirts of Hakodate in Ezo (present-day Hakodate City, Hokkaido) in the late Edo period. The name of Goryokaku was used from the time of the budget, but it was also called Kameda Yakushodorui or Kameda Yakushodorui during construction. Originally a wetland with many cat onions, it is also known as Yanagino Castle.
