Akiyoshidai is the largest Karst plateau in Japan, spreading over the central and eastern parts of Mine City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. It has a spread of about 16 km in the northeast direction and about 6 km in the northwest direction, with a total area of 54 km2 on the plateau, a total area of 93 km2 of limestone distribution (including potential parts under the alluvial area), and an elevation of 180 - 420 m on the plateau. The Akiyoshidai (a special natural monument and a quasi-national park) is divided into two platforms (East and West) by the Atsuto River, and the eastern region is a narrow sense of Akiyoshidai (a special natural monument and a quasi-national park). Along with Hiraodai (Fukuoka Prefecture) and Shikoku Karst (Kochi Prefecture and Ehime Prefecture), it is one of the three major Karsts in Japan.
