Zuishinmon Gate
A vermilion, thatched gate midway along the approach to the Okusha inner shrine. Built in 1710, it was once a Niō gate and became a Zuishinmon after the separation of Shinto and Buddhism. Beyond it stretches the famous avenue of 400-year-old cedars — about 500 metres of Togakushi's most majestic scenery.

The Red Gate in the Forest
This vermilion, thatch-roofed gate on the approach to Okusha was built in 1710 — originally the Niomon gate of the temple complex that stood here before the Meiji separation of Shinto and Buddhism.
Where the Great Avenue Begins
Beyond the gate begins the famous avenue of ancient cedars leading to the inner shrine — one of the most photographed scenes in Togakushi.
