Nanzen-ji
Nanzenji Temple is the head temple of the Nanzenji school of the Rinzai sect, located in Fukuchi-cho, Nanzenji, Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City. Its sango (literally, "mountain name") is Mt. Zuiryu. The principal image is Shaka Nyorai, and the founder is Mukan Fumon (Daimei Kokushi). The founding patron was Cloistered Emperor Kameyama. It is officially called Taiheikokoku Nanzenzen-ji Temple. It was the first Imperial Zen temple in Japan, and is regarded as the "Gozan no ue" temple located above Kyoto Gozan and Kamakura Gozan in the system of five mountains and ten temples established in the Muromachi period, and has the highest status among all the Rinzai sect temples in Japan.
